Noeller Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 ...figured this deserved its own thread. As per twitter, Kevin Glenn is now a member of the Montreal Alouettes.... SPuDS 1
Rich Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 hearing it's a mid to late round draft pick going from #als to #riders for veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn. deal still being worked on #cfl — gary lawless (@garylawless) October 14, 2015 can confirm the #als have acquired veteran QB Kevin Glenn from #riders #cfl details to follow — gary lawless (@garylawless) October 14, 2015
Dascow Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 That's bad news for the Bombers play-off hopes.
bigg jay Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Only a 5th round pick being sent to Saskatchewan for Glenn. I'm surprised the price is that low.
TBURGESS Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Good trade for both teams. The Als needed a QB to have any playoff hopes and didn't give much up. Glenn wasn't in the Riders plans for next year and didn't have a contract anyway. DR. CFL 1
Noeller Posted October 14, 2015 Author Report Posted October 14, 2015 There's no guarantees of Glenn's effectiveness. That seems a fair price, IMO. Will be interesting to see how that game goes this weekend...
gbill2004 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 I was afraid of this. This really hurts the Bombers playoff chances.
M.O.A.B. Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 You can chalk Als win against the Riders now. Can Glenn win against Ham, Tor & Edm?
TBURGESS Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Next weekend and the last game against Regina are more important than this weekend. Glenn will only get one or two practices before this weekend.
Fatty Liver Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 You can chalk Als win against the Riders now. Can Glenn win against Ham, Tor & Edm? No, no and no.
Noeller Posted October 14, 2015 Author Report Posted October 14, 2015 Ham with no QB is extremely beatable...
bearpants Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 This is so exciting... Glenn just needs Edmonton to complete the CFL bingo card... has it ever been done?
Tracker Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Glenn may be a good fit for the Alouettes- he will have a decent O-line, good receivers and consistent if not great coaching. Glenn has been the target of some unfair criticism's and if not for a broken arm, he would have had a Grey Cup ring. He has kept his bitching to a minimum even when shuttled around through no fault of his own. He has the charisma of a shovel but he is fundamentally sound. DR. CFL 1
kelownabomberfan Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 This is so exciting... Glenn just needs Edmonton to complete the CFL bingo card... has it ever been done? Yeah I don't think so. I really hope that the Esks sign him next year, that would be amazing. Suitcase Glenn. Hired gun, hired by all.
WBBFanWest Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 This is good news for us and for any team that plays the Als for the rest of the season. All they have to do is stay within a touchdown of Montreal by the 4th quarter and then let the Glenn "I can deal with pressure just fine, thank you very much" magic go to work.
bb1 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 This is so exciting... Glenn just needs Edmonton to complete the CFL bingo card... has it ever been done? Yeah I don't think so. I really hope that the Esks sign him next year, that would be amazing. Suitcase Glenn. Hired gun, hired by all. Loved by none.☺
M.O.A.B. Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Who else is for sale from the Riders?
M.O.A.B. Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 gary lawless ✔ @garylawless So, #als make a splash and declare their bid for crossover berth. Will #bombers and-or #lions respond? Deadline is 3:59 et #cfl
Noeller Posted October 14, 2015 Author Report Posted October 14, 2015 There's really not much more the Bombers can do at this point, is there? Gotta run with what ya got, and hope for the best...
Ripper Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Only a 5th round pick being sent to Saskatchewan for Glenn. I'm surprised the price is that low. Have you watched him play lately? I'm glad we got anything at all
bearpants Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 There's really not much more the Bombers can do at this point, is there? Gotta run with what ya got, and hope for the best... Unless we can trade someone for their OC... there isn't much that can be done at this point...
M.O.A.B. Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Winnipeg Blue BombersRecord: 5-10 2016 Draft Picks: 2nd, SSK 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th. (Forfeited 1st pick in supplemental draft) The Bombers are 5-10 with very thin playoff hopes. Getting in as third seed in the West earns a team the prize of going into either Calgary or Edmonton to try to win on the road against one of the CFL’s best teams. The Bombers should be sellers, with a goal of improving their Canadian talent or adding draft picks. But the franchise desperately needs to show it’s improving and getting into the postseason will help sell hope and season tickets for next year. The Bombers seem to be a C-plus or a B around the board. They’re okay at a lot of things but not excellent at anything. They could use help everywhere. The most obvious needs, however, are a consistent threat in the backfield and an accomplished receiver. Matt Nichols has proven capable in the absence of starting quarterback Drew Willy but the Bombers offence lacks consistency in both the run game and in the pass catching department. http://www.tsn.ca/who-could-use-kevin-glenn-at-the-cfl-trade-deadline-1.376235
IC Khari Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Not scared of Kevin Glenn Westy Sucks 1
Blueandgold Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 We got a better Quarterback in Nichols for cheaper. I'm not scared of one win Kevin Glenn who has no interest in embarrassing himself in another playoff game.
Mr Dee Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 It was pretty obvious that Montreal had to make a move such as this, but Sask. made a huge blunder if that's all they got for a QB who is capable of starting almost right away, and giving the Alouettes a better chance to win a game or two. They had Montreal over a barrel on this one, and ran a fade route instead.
