Ducky Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Good news...he is a dependable 4th liner in a pinch and comes cheap. He also helps out a lot on the farm I would imagine. Maurice has always said what a professional he is. Edited February 4, 2016 by Ducky

Mark F Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 It looks like......From what you people that follow this closely have pointed out.... and reading some of the articles linked here, about the players the jets have coming up in the system, you have to be pretty optimistic about the team in the next few years. Building it the right way, it seems to me. I mean the praise for Comrie... wow.
Mr Dee Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 What a class act... Vancouver Canuck All-Star winger gave his share of the all-star game winnings $91,000 US to the Canuck training staff to share.. blitzmore, Goalie, The Unknown Poster and 2 others 5

From Vancity buzz: "Daniel Sedin, along with his brother Henrik, have been class acts for a long time. Back in 2010, they donated $1.5 million to BC Children’s Hospital." "NHL players often speak to the special bond they have with their trainers, given how closely they work together. They’re the guys that put in long hours behind the scenes. If not for the John Scott story, Daniel Sedin would have been in the running for All-Star Game MVP as well. His four-point night led all players. I’m sure he would have given the car away too."
AtlanticRiderFan Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) 13 goals in the last two games for the Oilers. I honestly think we'd be in the playoffs right now if McDavid had played all season. He makes all the difference, not only in his own play, but also in the chemistry he brings. Noeller Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Imagine if RNH and Klefbom were in the line-up.....? Siiiiiiiigh....
17to85 Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Biggest thing for the Oilers since McDavid came back 5 for 6 on the PP. That powerplay was a sore spot for them while he was out, give a guy with that kind of skill more space though and it just clicks. Get Klefbom healthy and it'll be even better.
Floyd Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 They beat Columbus and Ottawa... relax with the McJesus worship Its going to get ugly when they beat Montreal. Barf.

Yes, they aren't great teams, but they are still teams we would have struggled against without McDavid. 1 hour ago, 17to85 said: Biggest thing for the Oilers since McDavid came back 5 for 6 on the PP. Get Klefbom back, and trade Schultz away, and we're good.
Ducky Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 They'd easily be in the playoffs if McDavid was healthy all year.

Barf. It's not that they beat them, it's that they stomped them. McDavid has given that team a spark and considering how it was looking with some of their best players injured they needed that spark. They had a nice win streak going until Klefbom, their best D hit the shelf, now McDavid has sparked the PP they can capitalize on those chances and score their way out of trouble.

The Unknown Poster Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Posted February 6, 2016 Lawless: Most nights in the NHL, all eyes are on Dustin Byfuglien when he’s on the ice. He’s used to the attention of hockey fans. Right now, however, add 30 GMs and endless agents who are also focused on Big Buff and what decision he reaches on his future. Count Winnipeg Jets captain and teammate Andrew Ladd in this group as well. Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and Byfuglien’s agent Ben Hankinson are working on reaching a contract extension which would keep the defenceman in Winnipeg for several years going forward. Most guesses have the Jets and Hankinson discussing a five-year term with an annual average value north of $7-million. Talks have increased in regularity over the last few days and there now seems to be a sense of urgency to reach a conclusion. If a deal is going to be worked out, it could happen in the next week. With the trade deadline set for Feb. 29, time is getting scarce. The Jets need an answer. And that answer will create a ripple effect across the NHL. The Jets need to know where they stand. Cheveldayoff’s phone continues to ring and teams say his message right now is his focus is on signing Byfuglien and until there is clarity on that front, the future of Ladd can’t be discussed. Byfuglien, and his decision to stay in Winnipeg or wait and go to free agency in July, is holding up a lot of people. Cheveldayoff will be prepared for a number of scenarios. The most likely, he signs Byfuglien and then looks for resolution on Ladd. Talks between the Jets and Ladd have been very quiet for some time. But Cheveldayoff will likely make one more effort to retain his captain. But it will be at Winnipeg’s price and there won’t be a lot of time or room for negotiation. If Ladd doesn’t accept what the Jets are prepared to offer, it will be time to move. Cheveldayoff will put Ladd on the market at that moment and attempt to bring back assets in exchange for a two-time Stanley Cup champion. Teams will want Ladd, even in a rental capacity. What if Byfuglien, having heard there is interest from teams such as Florida, Chicago and Los Angeles, decides he wants to move on. Then Cheveldayoff could find himself in position to deal both his No. 1 defenceman and his captain. The Jets GM could be very busy. There is also a scenario, where having signed Byfuglien to big dollar and long-term deal, that the budget-operated Jets elect for more cost certainty on the blue line. Third year man Jacob Trouba is the final year of his entry-level contract and will be a restricted free agent with no arbitration rights. His agent Kurt Overhardt is aggressive and will be pursuing a long-term contract with a hefty AAV. New York Islanders GM Garth Snow reportedly wanted Trouba when he first approached the Jets about granting Manitoba native Travis Hamonic’s request to be traded to a team closer to home. Hamonic is in the third year of a seven-year contract with an AAV of $3.9 million. Many consider Trouba an untouchable but the combination of a locked up Byfuglien and Hamonic’s team friendly contract could alter that status. Snow might be reluctant to part with a controlled asset such as Hamonic but Trouba’s upside could be attractive. Cheveldayoff isn’t limited to just the Islanders if he does elect to make Trouba available because of contract concerns and he isn’t under any time constraint on this front. But budget is always a concern for the Jets GM and with both Trouba and centre Mark Scheifele in line for major raises, he has to consider all options. For now, it all comes back to Buff. He’s the first domino. Once he falls, the others will begin to tip. With the Jets tied for the least amount of points in the NHL as of Saturday morning, it’s unlikely there will be any playoff hockey in Manitoba this spring. The most hockey excitement on the Prairies will take place over the next month.
The Unknown Poster Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Posted February 6, 2016 Five years for Buff rather than six would be tremendous. Jimmy Pop 1
Mr Dee Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 Almost interesting, if it didn't include the Jets..and 4 Canadian teams.
HardCoreBlue Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 I'm also in favour of not following the path of the Oilers dating back to the start of 2005. Yes I understand getting a high draft pick is awesome to some but I have a case study here to suggest it can actually cause more frustration than hope.
Goalie Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 Oilers aren't a good example tho. Look at LA. Look at Chicago. Pittsburgh. Oilers are actually an example of what not to do. They ignored the D and took every forward available. Jets have a nice D group and seem to have 2 good goalies in helle and Comrie. Building from the net out is how you win. Jets are lacking some top end forward talent Tho. Matthews makes a difference. Kyle Connor will make a difference. Put those 2 on the roster and maybe a guy like Lemieux and jets turn around quick. Figure out the pp and pk issues and this team is competitive
The Unknown Poster Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Posted February 6, 2016 Great point Goalie. Edmonton ignored D. They could be a lot further ahead. Then again they got McDavid. Jets are bigger and tougher. If both teams become contenders around the same time I like our ad and goalies for the win.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 EDM drafted Darnell Nurse. He made the club this year. Gotta give em credit for that.
Noeller Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 Nurse and Klefbom... Both going to be great ones.
Floyd Posted February 7, 2016 Report Posted February 7, 2016 Is McJesus injured again? He must be, the oilers lost tonight.
