Guest J5V Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Not an impending free agent, but more of a missing Bomber in the recent past. Addison Richards. It has been noted on T.E.P., by a certain missing poster, that: "He's having offseason hip surgery and is expected to be ready for training camp. He's seeing a hip specialist as his issue is a little complicated." That poster? - gbill2004 Would that make it "tragically hip"? <groan!>
Blueballz Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Newman, Nichols,Washington and Randle would be my picks
Noeller Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Curious question that I'm not sure needed it's own thread, but: What do people feel is the Bombers most pressing need this off-season (aside from an OC, obviously...player personnel only)?? Do we need to retool the OL, or were schemes the problem that got Willy killed again? Do we need better receivers, or again, is it the offense? Another DE opposite Westerman and an upgrade at DT? What's the #1 thing to look for in both recruiting and FA this offseason.....?

bigg jay Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 That's a huge list! Other than Collaros, who isn't a free agent in Hamilton?
Mr Dee Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Saskatchewan has a list of 35 players set to become free agents. Now Hamilton has a list of 34. Something like 200 in the league? I suddenly understand where the Bomber scouts and management will be concentrating their time this off season...the free agency lists. rebusrankin 1
TBURGESS Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Welcome to the 1 year contract era. Most of the good ones will be re-signed by their own teams before they ever hit Free Agency.
sweep the leg Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 The Hamilton list is crazy. A lot of really good players and they can't possibly sign them all. The Riders list is big too, but most of those players aren't very good.
M.O.A.B. Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 Riders will be tough to retain most of those because of cap-mess created by Taman.
bearpants Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Wonder if Hamilton resigns Bulcke and Laurent... especially with Gaydosh set to return from injury next year... Also wondering what's up with Evan Gill... does he have nagging injuries that could affect his career?
JuranBoldenRules Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Curious how much gas is in the tank for Harris. He hasn't looked particularly great the last couple seasons, but not sure if that's him or the Lions... I'd take him either way. He's a good enough receiver to be one of the best Canadians in the league at that position if he can't take the abuse at RB. Noeller and blitzmore 2

What's the #1 thing to look for in both recruiting and FA this offseason.....? I thought in the last 1/3 of the season, the O line started lookng better for pass protection, still not good with the running plays.... Nichols got killed first few games he played, then things looked somewhat less horrendous for him. But O line still biggest problem to me. I don't see how any offence can work if there's no pass protection and no run blocking. Juranbolden rules is pretty down on two or three of the O lineman.... I defer to him.
Jpan85 Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Those FA list are going to be slashed in half by the time we get to Feb 9th bearpants 1
Mr Dee Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 There's no doubt that the FA list won't look as spectacular, but there's going to be some very interesting names leftover, I would think. It looks like that scowl on Austins face can totally be related to the 'all in' concept that he has gambled on. They can't possibly sign all those same players to new contracts, so there's going to be movement..of some good players. Now I realize those were tears in Austin's eyes and fear on his face, the day Collaros went down. SPuDS 1
Mike Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Riders will be tough to retain most of those because of cap-mess created by Taman. Lucky them, they shouldn't want half that garbage anyways
Dragon37 Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Curious how much gas is in the tank for Harris. He hasn't looked particularly great the last couple seasons, but not sure if that's him or the Lions... Two years I would say. Since he is not the only one struggling on the team I would put it down to the team in general. What I like about Harris is he has great outside speed, probably the best in the league out of the backfield. He has great hands too. Winnipeg DESPERATELY needs that. Tracker and Stickem 2
Goalie Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Doesn't hurt that Harris is also a Winnipeger. Not saying that's the reason you go after him, but it doesn't hurt at all. There's some strong marketing opportunities there with Harris for sure. He's also not that bad of a back, had over 1000 yards this year, is a good receiving running back too, helps the ratio, lots of pluses to going out and signing Harris... I've always heard rumors that he's wanted to play for the Bombers, that his heart is here in Winnipeg. Perhaps it's true. Say what you will but signing Harris definitely improves our Canadian content significantly.. He helps the ratio.. maybe no need for Bucknor or Hurl? Maybe you can go Wild at MLB,Bass at the other spot.... Frees up a Canadian spot elsewhere. I guess, perhaps the only downside is if he gets hurt, it messed up the ratio a bit but... I'd be ok with a Harris,Marshall type of combo. Too bad Coombs isn't a free agent too, Not saying i feel this way but a small part of me does, it would be nice to have some local talent on the team. James Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I don't know that Wild would be very good in the middle of this particular scheme. Hall will have to re-write a lot of it and adjust what he does based on new personnel next year IMO. I'd like to move Bass to the middle and have a Barron Simpson type role. Wild has more speed and his pursuit angles are just as good as Bass'. He's also better in coverage. I just think he's much more suited to WLB. But we need a dominant DL that eats up all the blocks and still generates pressure all on its own to be able to have that set up. I have even more respect for Richie now, because he recognized our DL ahead of time would need help eating up blocks and generating pressure so he made Hurl that guy. Having a DL that can command all the blocks and still produce results is the key to having a dominant defense. I really hope Walters makes that a priority and is successful with it this year. Mark F and Mr Dee 2
Goalie Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Yes or Bass in the Middle and Wild on the outside, that's probably the better solution. Yup, DL and OL are the 2 area's that we are definitely still lacking a wee bit Don't mind Bryant,Chungh,Goossen, but 2 other spots there need to be filled.. Perhaps Jace Daniels, who i thought looked good before getting injured at the other tackle spot... But still need 2 spots, Neufeld isn't good enough and too much of an injury risk. Starting Westerman on the DL, be nice to have a Canadian DE backing him up, Perhaps we should look at trading for Evan Gill? I dunno what his deal is but he's another guy I've heard that pretty much wants to play with the Bombers.
bigg jay Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Bilukidi is my bet for that guy we need on the DL. He's had a few workouts since Baltimore cut him (he has or had one with Indy this week) but his time is pretty well done down there. Westy Sucks, Mark F and SPuDS 3
Noeller Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Re: Andrew Harris.....pretty sure nobody's against bringing him in, in principle, but the question is how much is he going to command on the open market, and how much are you willing to pay the guy? I don't think anyone thinks he's an elite level guy anymore, but is he going to ask for elite level money?
James Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Re: Andrew Harris.....pretty sure nobody's against bringing him in, in principle, but the question is how much is he going to command on the open market, and how much are you willing to pay the guy? I don't think anyone thinks he's an elite level guy anymore, but is he going to ask for elite level money? I think he will command that kind of coin and I agree he's sure not as dominant anymore. I think it depends on a lot of factors, like Cap space and who else is available. If we had a legitimate shot at Heenan for example and had to choose between Harris and Heenan, I'd go after Heenan for sure. Harris has had plenty of contracts and plenty of chances to not sign in BC and come to WPG. But he chose to spend all his good years in Vancouver. I'd still go after him though. He's still a fairly good RB and is a Canadian... But I wouldn't throw boat loads and boat loads of cash at him just because he's a Winnipeger.
Bigblue204 Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I'm hoping for a LB crew that looks like WILD BASS WOODS LEGGIT. MTL has a good amount of MLB right now...that will change if Muamba leaves, but either way Bear Woods is a FA and will hopefully hit the Open market. Mark F 1
