Mark F Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 have a ge stove, glass top. element died. can not find anything on the internets to show how to get at the element to change it. going to cost over two hundred bucks to have it done. can not find the service manual anywhere, free or to buy, anyone know how to do this? it's more than just unscrewing the screws at the front of the stove underneath the controls. thanks
Mark F Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 thanks a lot tup for that... tried that, did not lift up the top, so it's a little different than that stove.
basslicker Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I'd just search YouTube. That's what we did to do an all arounday check on our old stove. Some very helpful stuff on there Mark F 1
Mark F Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 thanks, searched it as much as I am able, and can't find much for this particular unit. asked the place where we bought it, and got the brush off.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I know a guy who replaced the glass himself. Sort of the same thing. The new glass broke on install. Dangerous stuff but you're just doing the element so...good luck buddy. Mark F 1
Brandon Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 My parents have had it changed twice...it apparently is more trouble then you would think. I would recommend getting someone who has done it before to do it. Mark F 1
Mark F Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 ..it apparently is more trouble then you would think. I think this is right.
