Noeller Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Thought this was fantastic. I do love me some crown...
Fatty Liver Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Great stuff, I'm off to the store to snap some up as I spotted that new product last week but didn't flinch. Another very good whiskey that only seems to be available in MB. is Wiser Legacy, at around $40 it's a great buy. I usually pick up a case on my annual sojourn to MB.
Jpan85 Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Yeah I am on the 40 creek too. It's become my go to. When I want to splurge I go for the copper kettle.
Fatty Liver Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Jack Daniels is better If you believe that you haven't drank enough. Noeller 1
iso_55 Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 When I was an 18 year old, I used to drink whiskey at parties. Got the cheapest I could find & brought some coca cola & that was good enough for me. Over the years, I got away from whiskey & was more into vodka & rum. I think I'll give that Crown Royal whiskey a shot. It's Manitoba so they deserve our support. Drink sensibly. If you drink, don't drive.
Noeller Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 40 Creek is a great whisky, as is White Owl. But there is nothing wrong with Crown....a fantastic rye whisky. Jack Daniels is a bourbon, and that's a whole 'nother beast.
Mark H. Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 I prefer my whiskey on the rocks. Rye however, I prefer with coke or yukon jack (now there's a mix that sneaks up on you). If I'm going to add mix to an expensive whiskey, I really see no point in drinking it. Fraser 1
Noeller Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 rye and pepsi max. If I'm drinking with my old man at Christmas or something, then it's rye and ginger...perfect for sitting around playing cards. FrostyWinnipeg and Fraser 2
Fraser Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Jack Daniels is better If you believe that you haven't drank enough. I have drank dozens and dozens of single malts. Jack and coke beats crown and coke all day.

If I'm going to add mix to an expensive whiskey, I really see no point in drinking it. That is a mix I'm gonna have to try. I like my wiskey neat for the same reason.
Fraser Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 He's a funny guy but he is shilling for blended scotch that is just awful
Mark H. Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 Due to the influence of a certain football forum, I also enjoy Bombay gin with a splash of 7 up and a dash of lime.
Taynted_Fayth Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 Im a wisers deluxe kinda guy myself. I can drink that **** straight all day long, but ill mix it just so I dont get too smashed too quickly. Noeller 1
Mark H. Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 whiskey makes me emotional You can get help for that

I can drink that **** straight all day long, but ill mix it just so I dont get too smashed too quickly. You should give Wisers Hopped a try, they've combined rye with a dark ale finish, really interesting combo. Also highly recommend Wisers Small Batch as a heavy hitter, just make sure you're not too far from your bed when you're done, it's dangerous stuff.
Noeller Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 I can't let a whisky discussion go by without mention of my personal favourite rye whisky: the girlfriend's grandfather's home batch from the Sandy Lake area south of Riding Mountain. To this day, the best pure whisky I've ever had. Unfortunately in extreme limited supply these days.
Mark H. Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 A fellow north of Teulon makes some decent Vodka. The man likes his produce fresh - and is willing to pay by the gallon. Noeller 1
Fatty Liver Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Tried some of this CR Northern Harvest over the weekend and was really impressed, very good stuff and half the price of a bottle of good Scotch. Noeller 1
Mark H. Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Hmmm sounds like good pickup for Christmas Noeller 1
