DR. CFL Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 is The 700k Cap overage in Mont for 2015? Not sure how you could calculate a 2016 overage of 700k when the over season roster limit is 75 players. People could only guess at their actual final roster.

Blue and Goldfish Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Looks like Popp forgot he still has GM duties...

TBURGESS Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 700K? That's 3 to 4 backup QB's. rebusrankin 1

Mr Dee Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Re: Montreal... They’re far and away the oldest team in the CFL for the second consecutive season. They have nineteen veterans in their thirties, which is a mind-blowing amount given scouting departments ability to find players and replacements every year, reiterating Popp’s desperation. It’s a terribly, terribly high number, not to mention that much of those players make up the core of Montreal’s roster. - BomberBuzz - http://bomberbuzz.com/2016/02/23/are-we-witnessing-the-demise-of-jim-popp/
iso_55 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Just look at the team you can get if the salary cap was 5.8 million. The Alouettes. Ain't it great? rebusrankin 1

Blueandgold Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) I wouldn't accept a pay cut if I were Glenn. Why should I? Popp isn't going to find a cheaper or better option than Glenn. Have they cut straight outta Compton yet? Edited February 23, 2016 by Blueandgold rebusrankin 1
Mark F Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 comment from 3downnation. be interesting to see how eskimos and riders do this season "Deion Belue who in 2013 was consider Alabama Crimson Tide’s top cover man takes over for Grymes in the Eskies secondary. He is a heady football player who has 4.4 / 40 speed allowing him to win body positioning during the route and make plays at the catch point. Working with John Ojo (CB) and Kacy Rodgers II (SLB), Belue will fit nicely into the Eskimos defensive scheme that will likely change some, but at a wholesale change level even with new DC Mike Benevides. The Eskimos D may take a bit of a step back as it will certainly more risk averse under Benevides than the gambler Jones, but it will not because of personnel. Deion Lacey, Rodgers and Belue are all quality players that help the Eskies reload on D and that is thanks to Hervey’s foresight."

Has it been said they took pay cuts? Or is Popp re-structuring things Taman style by deferring a bunch of salary? Edited February 24, 2016 by Jacquie

kelownabomberfan Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 It's the CFL. What's a contract?
M.O.A.B. Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 When did the Bombers released DL Roy Philon? TSN.ca NFL transaction page says, he signed with the Steelers (Feb. 22).
wookie Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 i am guessing they will if he signed with the steelers, not sure when they released him

Mr. Perfect Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Want to see how good a GM really is - See what he does when he loses an elite QB. Popp has been awful since losing Calvillo. MOBomberFan 1
DR. CFL Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 I'd say Popp has a better track record of finding talent then either of the two past a Bomber regimes. So you wouldn't consider hiring him in Wpg if that was a possibility?
iso_55 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Popp has had his day. I'd say the truth is closer to what Mr Perfect says than Dr CFL. The team hasn't been much of a contender for 5 years now. Having to restructure doesn't help.
