bearpants Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 Just reading through some of the blog and I found this nugget... perfectly exemplifies the Winnipeg media... "In fact, Tuesday’s practices at Investor Group Field were open to any and all media members, none of who seemed particularly interested in what either the Rouge Et Noir or Esks were actually practicing. Not even the piped-in crowd noise could distract the assembled typists and videographers from their duties, or more compellingly, how quickly they could cease performing them." It's pretty sad that one of their peers is "calling them out" on their lack of interest in the goings on at IGF ..
Mark F Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 Yeah it is sad, it was noted at training camp by people who post here. American (some) sports reporters on the other hand think the NFL is the most significant enterprise on this planet.

I had to read that paragraph a number of times and still didn't get it completely. Thanks for clarifying and providing context.

The difference is accountability... if a beat guy of an NFL team doesn't properly cover the team... he won't be the beat guy for long.... the freep, sun, etc don't seem to care that their sports writers don't do much... Jimmy Pop Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 Seems Investors Group Field has some sprucing up to do, despite being barely a year old. Ain't everything just peachy in Bomberland?
blueandgoldguy Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 You guys do realize he wasn't specifically focusing on local media when he made that statement? He was referring to the various media representatives from around the country as well.
Rod Black Posted December 2, 2015 Author Report Posted December 2, 2015 You guys do realize he wasn't specifically focusing on local media when he made that statement? He was referring to the various media representatives from around the country as well. Sure do realize that. Bearpants said it "exemplifies Winnipeg media". Took that as an example. And it is true that the CSN writer did not distinguish between national and local media types. So maybe the national media types in Canada and the local media types are both underachievers, from an outsiders perspective.
comedygeek Posted December 3, 2015 Report Posted December 3, 2015 Seems Investors Group Field has some sprucing up to do, despite being barely a year old. Ain't everything just peachy in Bomberland? Not fun with the cracks and stuff (ridiculous actually the work they have to re-do this offeseason). But the stadium is more than a year old, and his account of IGF not having the capacity to bring in the trucks for a major performance on the field was also a little (lot) off. But besides those corrections, obviously nothing much is peachy in Bomberland, so that stands.
