Mr. Perfect Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 He was the OC of the best offence this team has had in its entire 80+ history Not too hard when you have Charles Roberts and Milt Stegall in their primes. He was still getting chewed out by Milt and Khari Jones a number of times on the sidelines in his first go around as OC here which I remember quite vividly as my season tickets at the old stadium were behind the Bomber bench. Noeller, Westy Sucks and TBURGESS 3
Brandon Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 The easy and lazy hire.. Not very thrilled. Hope he has learned to throw longer then 3 yards on 2nd and long. Mr. Perfect and Logan007 2
Captain Blue Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 In fairness to LaPo he had some good ideas and schemes here as a head coach too. Got stuck with weak personnel. With Willy he at least is working with a full deck of cards. Blue-urns 1
Atomic Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Third time the Bombers have hired him. That's gotta be some kind of record.
Mr. Perfect Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 Third time the Bombers have hired him. That's gotta be some kind of record. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it....
Mr Dee Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I'd like to know, right now, what Willy is thinking, not what he's expected to say..but what he's really thinking. ****edit Well here's one half of the equation.. Drew Willy @Drew_Willy Really looking forward to working with Coach LaPolice next season!#believeinblue
Rod Black Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 The Bombers wont have to pay moving expenses. Save the nickels and the dollars look after themselves.
wbbfan Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 about the only thing worse then a plop offence is MBs offence.
pigseye Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 gary lawless ✔ @garylawless Term on the Paul LaPolice contract with @Wpg_BlueBombers OC gig is two years Well look at that.
B-F-F-C Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 While I'm not doing cartwheels over the choice. Who else was really available? Maas was already out of the running as the RB's denied access. Khari Jones didn't necessarily succeed during his time as OC. Sure we could have gone after a complete newbie but isn't that what many of you have lambasted the team for doing in the past. So I guess I have to accept it and hope that 3rd times the charm. :P Blue-urns and blitzmore 2
TBURGESS Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 A lot of ABMB (Anyone but MB). 2 year contract? Is that longer than O'Shea or has he been extended?
Noeller Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I'm gonna root for him because I like the guy, but man...you don't get back together with your ex...never mind twice. There's a reason you broke up in the first place.

Sure we could have gone after a complete newbie but isn't that what many of you have lambasted the team for doing in the past. So I guess I have to accept it and hope that 3rd times the charm. :P True and in my opinion this is starting to be an issue for the league. I believe it was Madani who tweeted something along those lines either yesterday or earlier today that there is a lack of blue chip coaching prospects out there at the moment league wide. One could make the argument that in some regards the team didn't have a lot to choose from, but at the same time it doesn't make me feel any better about this hire as we've seen the end of this movie twice already...
Goalie Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 A lot of shouldn't have been fired in the first place.
wbbfan Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 He was the OC of the best offence this team has had in its entire 80+ history he was also the oc the next year of a team with the exact same talent and mid to bottom half production.
Rod Black Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Two unforeseen unexpected but totally awesome announcements all within the past hour. Bombers announce that Paul La Po is back and McDonalds announces the McRib is back. Mr Dee, Super Duper Negatron and Mark F 3
Noeller Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I have no confidence that Lapo can put together a quality offense without Milt Stegall, Charles Roberts, Mike Sellers, Arland Bruce, etc..... rebusrankin, TBURGESS, Blueandgold and 2 others 5
pigseye Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Lapo may not be the best OC in the league but he is one of the best at putting an offense together with marginal talent, especially marginal o-line talent, there will be some improvement. Blue-urns and Mr Dee 2
Nolby Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Everyone's shitting on him. It was different coaches, players and team when he was last here. We really didn't have much to pick from in terms of ocs, maybe 3rd times a charm. Embrace the guy and give him a chance again. blitzmore, Mr Dee and BRock71 3
pigseye Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 A lot of ABMB (Anyone but MB). 2 year contract? Is that longer than O'Shea or has he been extended? Some posters actually doubted that this hire wouldn't be based on a HC succession plan, lol.
voodoochylde Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I have no confidence that Lapo can put together a quality offense without Milt Stegall, Charles Roberts, Mike Sellers, Arland Bruce, etc.....And yet he had the second highest scoring offence in the CFL while in Saskatchewan .. also helped Durant to a Western all star nod in his rookie year. Not endorsing the hire, just refuting a point. blitzmore and Blue-urns 2
BomberBall Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 A lot of ABMB (Anyone but MB). 2 year contract? Is that longer than O'Shea or has he been extended? O'Shea has not been extended yet and has one year left. Kind of an awkward situation, really.
brett_c_b Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Don't like it at all. Despite the struggles I was at 4 Bomber road games this year. I was planning at least 3 next year. That plan is now at 0. This just feels like they aren't trying, and if they aren't trying, I'm not spending money. With that said, I hope I'm wrong and we have a legitimate offense next year, but I'm not expecting it.
M.O.A.B. Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 For people being negative out this... there's not much choice out there for OC really.
JuranBoldenRules Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I have no confidence that Lapo can put together a quality offense without Milt Stegall, Charles Roberts, Mike Sellers, Arland Bruce, etc.....And yet he had the second highest scoring offence in the CFL while in Saskatchewan .. also helped Durant to a Western all star nod in his rookie year. Not endorsing the hire, just refuting a point. Also had Ken Miller involved in his decision-making, one of the more aggressive offensive coaches of the era. Lapolice is a genius. I don't think his decision-making is ever aggressive enough to make him a great play caller.
