The Barrie Colts traded forward Brendan Lemieux to the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday.

Barrie sent Lemieux, a 3rd round pick in 2017 and 4th round pick in 2020 to Windsor for centre Anthony Stefano, a 3rd round pick in 2019 and 2nd round pick in 2021.

“We feel this is a sound hockey deal that both sides will benefit from,” said Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford in a release. “We obtain a skilled player that comes to the rink with a good work ethic in Anthony Stefano, and the Spitfires acquire a proven goal scorer in the league in Brendan Lemieux.”

Lemieux, 19, was in his fourth season with the Barrie Colts appearing in 175 games, recording 83 goals& 58 assists, while tallying 370 penalty minutes. The Winnipeg Jetsprospect was originally drafted by the Colts in the 4th round of2012.

Stefano, 19, was originally drafted by the Peterborough Petes in the 5th round ofthe 2012 OHL Priority Selection.  He is in his fourth OHL season.Stefanohas appeared in 147 games scoring 31 goals & 47 assistsbetween the PetesandSpitfires.

The Colts will host the London Knights on Thursday night at the BMC.

 

 

Colts are first in their division at 17 - 10 - 0

 

Windsor is first in their division at 16-9-4

 

Just sounds like they were each looking for a different piece on their team.

What do you mean "what"?

Trades aren't exactly rare in juniors, especially guys in their final year.

Just surprises me that he'd go from the Colts where the Jets clearly have a good relationship with management, to another team. 

 

Same thing happened to Morrisey his final year I believe.
