The Unknown Poster Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming The #Bombers have made a $4.5 million payment to Triple B Stadium Inc, made up of "entertainment tax, facility fees, and excess cash."
Westy Sucks Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Yay! Now go win some games wbbfan 1
Rich Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Good to know we can at least make the mortgage payment in a Grey Cup year. Westy Sucks 1
Bomber_fanaddict Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Wahoo. 2 down.....78 more to go wbbfan 1
rebusrankin Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 The more the club pays, the less the taxpayers do.
holoman Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 And yet Paul Friesen and Wiecek aren't on op of this :S
Goalie Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 I feel the government should probably just say, yeah you know what, forget about the loan. I don't know. I really think it's kind of silly they have to pay it off. The Unknown Poster 1
IC Khari Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 The Bombers will be dealing with a different government soon.
Goalie Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Maybe. Maybe not. Lots can change and one thing i've learned over time is to never trust polls.
Stickem Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Another govt....led by that dud Pallister....I sure hope the polls are dead wrong and occasionally they are...At any rate I'm sure glad we made our payment and guys like Friesen can suck it up..

You hope the NDP win another majority? yikes. I agree with Goalie. I just sort of wish the government wrote off the debt as the cost of doing business and moved on. Bombers would be a very, very wealthy franchise if that were the case.
Noeller Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Why is it news the Blue #Bombers are making a scheduled mortgage payment? Come to think of it, given their history, maybe it is. Right on cue...

I didn't say I hope the NDP win another majority...it's just that I don't think the options are that great...IF we do get another govt., I hope it's a minority so we can chuck the buggers if they start screwing up..I have a long memory and was never thrilled with cons....federally or provincially.
The Unknown Poster Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 Brad Boak @boakerstar @friesensunmedia why is you getting a hug from a jet news? Come to think of it, given most of your articles, maybe it is. Goalie, Bomber_fanaddict, IC Khari and 1 other 4

iso_55 Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 This is an anchor around the team's neck & it will eventually pull them under unless in the next half century the CFL finds a way to grow the game spectacularly thru hugely increased revenues which I don't think is going to happen based on what I see now at the gate & in ratings which means decreased advertising revenues long term. At some point in the future, I think the loan will be forgiven because it'll have to be.

Rod Black Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Why would people find disappointment in this news? I'm glad there is some success with the WBB. Goalie 1

I'd like to know what percentage was entertainment tax, what percentage was facility fees, and what percentage was excess cash. I'd also like to know what the final take was on the Grey Cup. I'd also like to know what the club made on entertainment tax and finally, what the club made on facility fees. It would give us a much clearer picture of the financial situation now and moving forward.
Rich Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Should be able to figure out most of that when they release their annual report. Usually in April. TrueBlue and comedygeek 2
bustamente Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Sooner or later they will have to go to the province hat in hand
kelownabomberfan Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 What was the size of the payment the Hamilton TC's made on their stadium this year? Ottawa Red Blacks? Given the state of the Ontario debt situation the Ontario taxpayers could use some payback on their infrastructure investment. How much are the Riders kicking in on their new stadium? Just curious.

So not really that much different then the Bomber plan, we just have a loan rather then facility fee, I think the original Bomber plan was to pay an $80M loan after the sale of the old stadium for retail and property taxes on that location to cover another $100M.
iso_55 Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 If the Bombers can make 20 years of payments that would be $90 million. If things went off the rails financially at that time I think it still would be a good chunk of money paid down. rebusrankin 1
Jpan85 Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Once again 3.5 million at the end of the deal will not be as much as 3.5 million at start of loan.
