FrostyWinnipeg Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Story so far... -Jets playing(or not) for draft position -Stempy returns to show Chevy what he missed -Devils to play in Helle's zone THE DEVILS! THE DEVILS! Edited January 24, 2016 by FrostyWinnipeg
HardCoreBlue Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 How many points are we out of a playoff position? I think it's premature to call this as much as all signs signal sinking boat. Still a glimmer of hope for me.
Ducky Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 Eight points out of a playoff spot with the league's worst schedule on the horizon.

Ducky Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 I think we will finish about 5th-6th last. Grueling schedule in Feb.-Mar.
bustamente Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 Closer to the bottom than making the playoffs i don't want to be that team that misses the playoffs bye a couple of points i would rather pick top five than 8-11 in the draft. If you can't make the playoffs and this team doesn't look like it will you might as well finish as close to the bottom as possible. Ducky, blitzmore and The Unknown Poster 3
The Unknown Poster Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 When Pavs is back, the jets should solve their goalie question by playing without a goalie the rest of the season. That's how you get the best draft pick!
Ducky Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 They've done that for awhile haven't they? Lawless said yesterday that Florida wanted Lowry for Pirri. He also said that the Jets are not out of the running for Drouin if Yzerman wants prospects. I'd give him Petan and a 3rd or Lemieux and a 3rd.
The Unknown Poster Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 Not Lemieux. Maybe Petan....
iHeart Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) Hutch is starting today? how did I miss that? EDIT: It's Hellebuyck starting Edited January 24, 2016 by iHeart
Ducky Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 You think Lemieux has a higher ceiling than Petan?
iHeart Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 God I can't wait til next season, when Lemieux will be playing for us, Pav will be better, Clitsome either playing for us or traded at this rate (Ugh why did Stempniak have to go?)
IC Khari Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 Cool, we're tanking it without even trying ... wait a minute

Lemieux can actually touch the ceiling. 2 hours ago, iHeart said: (Ugh why did Stempniak have to go?) Cause 6 goals in 18 games was not good enough for the Jets last year. Ducky Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 I can see Lemiux going no higher than the third line unless he is moved up in a pinch. I think, if Petan works out, the ceiling is higher on Petan. A second rounder and Petan is probably fair value for Drouin but I don't see Yzerman making that trade.
The Unknown Poster Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 I agree the cieling is higher for Petan but it's a longer road to get there than Lemieux. Odds are better of Lemieux reaching his full potential. id prefer not to lose either. and anyone still subscribing to this stemp myth needs to give their head a shake.
Ducky Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 I agree that Lemieux has a better chance of hitting his potential but I'd wrap up either one of them in a trade if it were worth it. Maurice mentioned the other day that Copp will eventually push his way onto the 3rd line be it at C or LW. If Lowry is on the 3rd line, that only leaves a RW and Lemieux plays LW. He is better suited for the 4th line and 10-12 minutes a game.

Stickem Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 The glimmer is slimmer after that one...Very disappointing after the potential we showed at the end of last year...About the only thing to come out of this season is a higher draft pic...Way to go Chevy and company.
The Unknown Poster Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 Last season was an aberration that raised expectations unreasonably. Look how bad edmonton was for so long. Still is. Buffalo same thing. Pens drafted Crosby, Malkin, letang, Staal, fleury before they began turning it around and we're best in the opening round of their first playoffs. We see big name players like wheeler, ladd, little, buff and we want to be better right now. But having those players and playing those salaries is why we made the playoffs last season. That was fun. But not realistic. Mad are a rebuilding team that happens to have some solid assets. The best thing that could happen now is to get a top three draft pick. bustamente and DR. CFL 2
bustamente Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 This team is not ready for the playoffs let alone a long playoff run, Chevy's got some important decisions to make on which way this team goes forward. Does he become a seller at the deadline this team is 9 pts. back and losing ground every week hoping the team drops into a bottom five position, does he give Buff and Ladd contracts that he will regret in a few years if not sooner in Ladds case. It will be a interesting few weeks to see if Chevy trades before or at the deadline, does he risk injuries to expiring contracts and getting nothing or does he make calls and take what he can now. I agree with TUP if Chevy handles this right it could be the best thing that could happen to the Jets long term.
DR. CFL Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 This team is simply built to run based on a budget. You get what you are willing to pay for. Don't blame Chevy he doesn't set the budget or sign the cheques. You can only grind out so many wins with grinders, kids and effort. Ducky 1
