Jimmy Pop Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I saw this site pop up in my twitter feed, a province by province listing of current highest scoring players born in each province. With a lousy Jets season going along, and all this trade chatter, how about something fun (aka less stressful!) we can debate. Now, fully realize many of these players listed were only born here, then moved elsewhere. Nevertheless.... here's the lineups. Who do you like, Team MB or Team SK? QuantHockey.com TEAM MANITOBA Steen - Toews - Sharp Domi - Zajac - Stone Fehr - Eakin - Weise McLeod - Helm - Reaves Keith - Hamonic Stone - Severson Falk - Edmundson Reimer Pickard TEAM SASKATCHEWAN Marleau - Getzlaf - Eberle Hartnell - Bozak - Kunitz Schwartz - Schenn - Laich King - Comeau - Gordon Dumba - Murray Schenn - Cowen McNabb - Gryba Holtby Ward The Unknown Poster 1
FrostyWinnipeg Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 We are screwed after the 2nd line.
sweep the leg Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I thought this was going to be an all time list. Clark and Howe would murder us.
Ducky Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) We'd have Bobby Clark and Mosienko and Sawchuk... Edited February 23, 2016 by Ducky
Ducky Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Manitoba sure produced some good centers and goalies.......Clark, Toews, Butch Goring, Sawchuk, Belfour, Broda, Ranford Patrick Sharp, Mike Keane, Reggie Leach, Mosienko, Leschyshyn, Grant Ledyard, James Patrick, Babe Pratt, Brian Engblom, Duncan Keith Coaches Fred Shero and Billy Reay LOTS of really good players come from Manitoba, I am sure there are tons I have missed. Jpan85 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Ron Hextall to Ducky, Mark F and Goalie 3
bearpants Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Sask has some good top end talent and a impressive goalie tandem... I think MB might have more depth and probably a little stronger on the back end... This would probably be a decent hockey game... Jimmy Pop and Goalie 2
Jimmy Pop Posted February 24, 2016 Author Report Posted February 24, 2016 Scrap the World Cup, and have a Canada Cup tournament with provincial teams. Split Ontario up. Give the States a West & East team. But naaaah, we'll all like Team Europe vs Team North America Under 23 title match way better! Mark F 1
Ducky Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) Not many goalies considered to be better than Sawchuk over time. For sure top 10 and arguably top 5. Edited February 24, 2016 by Ducky
Goalie Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Tough to say unless you are 100 and saw Sawchuk play. But yup, apparently he was very very good.
Goalie Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 I'd probably add Matt Calvert to team Manitoba and take off Cody Mcleod On D, you could add Travis Sanheim to the Team Manitoba list also. He's a good one, prospect but a good one for sure. Jimmy Pop 1
Ducky Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 "Considered by many to be the best goalie to ever play the game, Sawchuk is in the top tier of netminders. His 103 shutouts was a league record for a long time and he held the record for most wins in a career for many years until Patrick Roy broke it not to long ago." I remember him from the late 60's but he wasn't playing for the best teams. I do remember announcers like Danny Gallivan (best play by play guy ever) gushing about him and saying how he was the best goalie of all time.
Goalie Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 I played at the arena named after him plenty of times
