Rousey's game is to charge her opponents and overwhelm them, which is why most of her fights are over so fast. Holm's footwork was way too good for that to work. The best example was Rousey falling on her face after Holm sidestepped her. MMA skill set-wise Holm was outclassed in her last two fights. Rousey isn't a great striker but she has adequate skills and has definitely got a good ground game. Tate can do striking and ground. Holly is a kick boxer and that's it. A good kick boxer and capable, obviously, of winning against anyone especially if that fighter plays to her skill set like Ronda did (and just like Aldo did in the McGregor fight). Rousey played the charging game because she was so far above the other fighters she faced, except Tate but Rousey just appears to be Tate's kryptonite. Holm though actually had a skill set that Rousey needed to respect but that could be overcome with the proper game plan. Instead they had her fight into Holm's skill set. If striking is not your strong point you never play a stand up game. Rousey paid the price in losing to someone she should never have lost to.
bigg jay Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 It's not a claim that Holm was leading, it's a fact. You can see the actual score cards showing that the judges gave Holm rounds 1, 3 & 4. Tate won the 2nd round 10-8 on all 3 cards meaning the score was 38-37 Holm going into the 5th. http://m.sherdog.com/blog/Picture-Miesha-TateHolly-Holm-Scorecard-from-UFC-196-101383
FrostyWinnipeg Posted June 5, 2016 Report Posted June 5, 2016 Brock Lesnar will be fighting at UFC200 against an opponent TBD. His last UFC fight was in 2011.
Goalie Posted June 5, 2016 Author Report Posted June 5, 2016 Yup. Wwe approved it. Rumors are so they can use Rousey at next year's mania
The Unknown Poster Posted June 5, 2016 Report Posted June 5, 2016 (edited) Weird development. Brock is going to lose. Word is Brock has been training for UFC since April, probably was reached out to when Connor and UFC blew up. As Goalie said many presume this is to get Connor or Ronda for WWE. On the other hand, some are saying this is WWE paying back the favour they owe UFC for letting Ronda appear at Mania in Santa Clara last year Also talk that Brock's WWE contract allowed one UFC fight because the talk was he was going to fight Fedor a couple of years ago. The assumption is WWE will want Brock to face someone he can beat. But there is so much risk in this. Its really crazy. I guess its a massive pay day for Brock because he previously said he was done. The Unknown Poster Posted June 5, 2016 Report Posted June 5, 2016 Mark Hunt floating around as the potential opponent but probably not a good idea. Mir would have been good but he's suspended
FrostyWinnipeg Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Reporter, staff removed from UFC 199 after Lesnar report By: The Associated Press INGLEWOOD, Calif. - A reporter's credentials were revoked during a UFC show Saturday night after he reported that WWE star and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was close to fighting again for the organization. MMAfighting.com's Ariel Helwani said on Twitter that he was escorted out of the UFC 199 show at the Forum before the main event, along with photographer Esther Lin and video director E. Casey Leydon. Helwani's story on Lesnar appeared a few hours before the surprising return was made official. During the UFC 199 show, the UFC announced that Lesnar, mixed martial arts' biggest pay-per-view star, will fight at UFC 200 in Las Vegas next month. Helwani posted that he only reported news, didn't do anything unethical and then was "told we're banned for life." UFC spokesman Dave Sholler said the promotion believes that journalists should show professional courtesy by contacting the UFC for comment before reporting a story. Helwani was recently removed from his role as a reporter for Fox Sports, the UFC's corporate broadcast partner. He is among the most prominent journalists covering the sport, with more than 368,000 Twitter followers. UFC President Dana White hasn't publicly commented on the decision to ban Helwani. White didn't attend the post-fight news conference at UFC 199.
Brandon Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 It as weird how they announced on the broadcast about Lesnar coming back... my guess is they do a fight with Barnett or someone who can't knock his block off. Wouldn't it be insane if he and Fedor meet? I'm more so shocked that Bisping knocked out Rockhold! Same goes with Hendo not dying in the cage. Weird event last night was! What's the deal with so many fighters (Werdum, Rockhold, Weidman etc..) who win a belt and then suddenly think they are invincible and show absolutely zero defense in the octagon? Even Rogan pointed out that Rockholds chin was being left straight up before he got clocked.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 He had previously agreed to fight Fedor so it wouldnt shock me. It will be interesting because WWE would certainly want him to win and even UFC will want him to win (for future potential deals) unless its someone who can be *made* by beating him. But Brock always been someone who wants to fight guys that are tough...never wanted "easy" fights. So will he take an easy fight knowing his age and rust works against him? Not sure about that...
bigg jay Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Talk of a Fedor fight is pretty much just a pipe dream since Brock would still have been under contract to the UFC (even when he retired and went back to the WWE). They tried to set it up years ago but were never able to sign Fedor. Fedor is now with the new Rizin promotion and he fights UFC vet Fabio Maldonado on June 17th (ironically enough that fight will be shown on UFC's Fight Pass). Mark Hunt is the leading contender to fight Brock. He was asked to "get ready" for a fight at UFC 200 but wasn't/isn't allowed to talk about an opponent.

They pretty much had to announce it that way, once the news broke earlier in the day about him coming back. It was a pretty crazy card right from the start. Bisping winning that fight might not go down as one of the biggest upsets ever but it's up there! Rockhold was probably way over confident since he wiped out Bisping fairly easily only 18-19 months ago. He already felt Bisping's punches so I guess he didn't feel like there was much to worry about. Happens in all sports.
sweep the leg Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Hunt better be working on his takedown defense, b/c there's a 0% chance Lesnar will try to stand with him. bigg jay 1

Bisping better enjoy his time with the belt b/c any one of Weidman, Rockhold, or Jacare will beat him in his first title defense.

I predict Brock loses. It always seemed to me (and Im not MMA expert) that for as tough as Brock is, if he gets tagged in the jaw, he immediately is off his game. Some guys can take a hit but Brock really hates getting hit.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Wrestling Observer: Brock Lesnar will face Mark Hunt on the main card of UFC 200, announced on ESPN SportsCenter Monday morning in an interview with Hannah Storm. In the interview, Lesnar discussed the decision to return, saying how he originally went out had been bothering him for a long time. When asked about how the deal came down between WWE and UFC, he said it was "big business" and that it benefited everyone involved for him being at UFC. He called himself "the modern day Bo Jackson" and laughted that his pay "has a lot of 0s" behind it, but didn't disclose the amount. He is treating this as a one-off fight, but when asked about the future, he was non-commital. He plugged that he'll be at SummerSlam as well. When asked about the Ariel Helwani situation, he said he had no idea who that was.
bigg jay Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 It's probably one of the better fights for Brock though. Hunt isn't a threat to take him down or submit him so as long as Brock doesn't let him stay standing, it's a very winnable fight for him. Hunt has been submitted a number of times by guys using holds that are more strength than technique (straight armbars & kimuras) so that works well with Brock's attributes. sweep the leg and The Unknown Poster 2
sweep the leg Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Just now, The Unknown Poster said: I predict Brock loses. It always seemed to me (and Im not MMA expert) that for as tough as Brock is, if he gets tagged in the jaw, he immediately is off his game. Some guys can take a hit but Brock really hates getting hit. He definitely doesn't like being punched. I like the saying, "everybody has a gameplan until they get punched in the face". It very much applies to Lesnar. I think he can beat Hunt though. Hunt has decent wrestling, but imo it's mostly just him being strong. He won't be stronger than Lesnar, and he definitely won't have better technique. IMO the fight will be decided early. If Lesnar gets an early takedown he can tire Hunt out, as he's a bit of a fatty. If Lesnar has to stay on his feet he'll be put to sleep. He doesn't have the defense or chin to stand very long with Hunt.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 The other consideration is Brock might be older, but he's in much much better shape from a health stand point. The diverticulitis he suffered really hurt him the last few fights. He's said its under control now and he's way healthier and he has something to prove. The WWE part of this is intriguing. If Brock loses, especially by KO, it does hurt Brock. But probably hurts him more in Vince's eyes then the fans' eyes. And none of the McMahons other than Shane like MMA. If Brock wins, he's a bigger star for sure, if used properly, which in WWE means he taps out Hunt and then taps out to Roman at Summerslam. Id assume WWE is getting advertising included in this and probably a significant fee for allowing it.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 I just realised Mark Hunt is Samoan. Roman to run in at UFC 200 and spear Brock.
Brandon Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Hunt is going to kill him....not a good fight for Brock. Hunt has survived periods of time with great submission grapplers. I'd favour Hunt greatly in this fight.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Kimbo Slice is dead. Heart failure.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Ban didn't last long In a statement released tonight by UFC, the ban on Ariel Helwani and others at MMAFighting.com is no more. "Following a conversation with with the editorial team at SB Nation, UFC willl not prevent MMAFighting.com from receving media credentials to cover live UFC events. We respect the role the media plays in our sport and beyond, including MMAFighting's ability to report news. However, in our opinion, we believe the recurring tactics used by its lead reporter extended beyond the purpose of journalism. We feel confident our position has now been adequatly communicated to the SB Nation editorial team. UFC's goal as the world's leading mixed martial arts promotion is to cultivate interest in its world-class athletes and events, and deliver for the fans. We will continue to introduce this sport and its athletes to new fans across the world, and we will do so by working alongside media across all platforms." UFC had come under fire in the last 24 hours after Helwani took his story to several mainstream media outlets. The wording of the statement is curious as they are still clearly unhappy with Helwani.
bigg jay Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 It backfired on them big time. The amount of media attention this was getting (including mainstream media) was not good for them. It's not the first time they've tried to bully the media and won't be the last. Brandon Blue&Gold 1
The Unknown Poster Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Rumor has it Punk will fight Aug 20th in Vegas. I'll be in town that weekend actually. Interesting how much press UFC will get off wrestling this summer.
