I honestly think this thread has run its course, all there is left here is one extremely angry person who wants to barf up leftist fear-mongering nonsense, and me, who is barfing up Trump defense (though all I really am saying is that I want to actually see what he does as president before judging him, which I know is CRAZY I guess). Here's the thing, man. There was some seriously vile stuff in Trump's platform. http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/11/20/donald-trump-says-hed-absolutely-require-muslims-to-register/?_r=0 There's video out there of this, if you don't trust the big bad MSM. Isn't it reasonable that people might be anxious and frightened after electing a guy who has said aloud that he wants to make a big handy list of Muslims? What are they going to use that list for? Birthday cards? Eid party invites? Lemme get some of your anticipated responses out of the way: That was almost a year ago! I'm pretty sure if someone made threats against your family and your community, that you'd rightly not let bygones be bygones after a year. It was just a campaign promise! No one knows what Trump is going to do! Sure, but the bottom line is that making a big government list of Muslims is not a deal-breaker for American voters. How terrifying do you think that is, that millions of your fellow citizens wouldn't object to seeing your name on a list? Listen, I agree with Obama: I want Trump to succeed, because I have seen failed presidencies and they are ugly. If he makes this country a better place, I'll eat crow all day long. I've been wrong about politics before. But I am also going to have lots of sympathy for the people who have been directly targeted by his rhetoric, and I hope you'll do me the courtesy of not dismissing that sympathy and anxiety as "leftist fear-mongering." Great post, agree 100%, though I think you just stated your case much more eloquently and without rancor, which is all anyone can really ask for. Did you see this video from this British guy? He kind of sums it up for me in a nutshell why Brexit happened and why Trump happened. Language warning. IC Khari 1

And he is leaving office with the US better off than it was when W left.

I know I know I get this from every Obama apologist - it's not his fault, it's the Congress' fault. Yeah, whatever.... Anyway, fine Obama had SOME experience, though 3 years as a US senator isn't much. Now look at Trump's experience. I know I know, this is where the liberal media echo chamber starts up and starts babbling about his tax losses. Anyway. I agree with Johnzo, let's give him a chance. It's in EVERYONE's best interests. I will say this - if he does anything to mess with gay rights including marriage, or messing with Roe vs Wade, I will definitely be very disappointed and will look forward to him being ousted in 4 years.
Mr Dee Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 ........Hey, can anybody guess who's playing the trumpet?
kelownabomberfan Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Michael Moore, who I normally can't stand, also has a great take on what happened. Trump supporters in certain states were also Sanders supporters. They just wanted change. I liked the part where he actually praised Trump for saying during the debate that he doesn't pay taxes because he's smart, and how that resonated with people, who actually pay taxes. And how anyone who defended him for that were attacked online viciously. The Left needs to listen to Jonathon Pie. Stop attacking, start listening. Edited November 12, 2016 by kelownabomberfan

So you are going to use that to rationalize not listening to him? Really? Michael Moore said exactly the same things he did on MSNBC. He said it's time to stop insulting people that don't think like you, and start listening instead. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp?

You are the antithesis of "it's time to stop insulting people that don't think like you, and start listening instead". You are the trolling poster child of insulting people who do not think like you are shouting over them. But I get it, it's your M.O. to troll like that. I accept you as you are. Well thank you. One of the benefits of a Canadian upbringing. The thing about truth, though, is that it remains truth no matter how eloquently or politely it is stated. People have very good reasons to be frightened of a Trump presidency. Some of them may be less eloquent and polite than I am, and some might speak in what may appear to be hyperbole. But they are still speaking truth. They are honestly frightened, and their reasons are not stupid or farfetched.

I hear your Johnzo, but when I read about all of the dirty tricks that Hillary's team pulled during the election, I have to wonder why people weren't more frightened of a Clinton presidency as well. Quote PHOENIX A.Z. (AP) — For months now, rumors have circulated the Internet that individuals were being paid to protest at rallies held by presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Today a man from Trump’s rally in Fountain Hills, Arizona back in March has come forward to say that he was paid to protest the event. “I was given $3,500 to protest Donald Trump’s rally in Fountain Hills,” said 37-year-old Paul Horner. “I answered a Craigslist ad about a group needing actors for a political event. I interviewed with them and got the part.” Trump supporters have been claiming that protesters are being paid by the Bernie Sanders’ campaign, but Horner disagrees. “As for who these people were affiliated with that interviewed me, my guess would be Hillary Clinton’s campaign,” Horner said. “The actual check I received after I was done with the job was from a group called ‘Women Are The Future’. After I was hired, they told me if anyone asked any questions about who I was with or communicated with me in any way, I should start talking about how great Bernie Sanders is.” Horner continued, “It was mostly women in their 60’s at the interview that I went to. Plus, all the people that I communicated with had an AOL email address. No one still has an AOL email address except people that would vote for Hillary Clinton.” http://abcnews.com.co/donald-trump-protester-speaks-out-i-was-paid-to-protest/
