Rich Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 An interesting article up on cfl.ca of how Bass made it to the CFL. http://www.cfl.ca/2016/03/20/breakout-star-khalil-bass-never-took-no-for-an-answer/ Quote Bass tried out with four different teams, including four different times with the Bombers in particular, before finding himself on a Canadian Football League roster. “My road to get to Winnipeg was very long,” recalled Bass, now set to enter his second season as a Blue Bomber. “It took me about two and a half years.” ... The Bombers liked what they saw in Bass but under then-defensive coordinator Gary Etcheverry’s system couldn’t make a fit.
Mike Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 The fact that an Etcheverry scheme couldn't fit a player like Bass in says a lot about Etch. Then again ... how did Ottawa, Saskatchewan and Edmonton all pass on this guy too? Bigblue204 and SPuDS 2
Stickem Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 WOW...one word for Bass...'perseverance' ...Just goes to prove if you want something bad enough...it'll happen...Good lesson for aspiring players..AND can we please block the fact that Etch. ever coached here..or Bellefool ...nightmarish is a word to describe their time here.
