TrueBlue Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has released International defensive tackle Bryant Turner and International wide receiver Clarence Denmark. “These are the types of difficult decisions that must be made throughout the offseason,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “Both Bryant and Clarence have done great things for this organization both on and off the field for a long time now. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers sincerely thank both men for the dedication, hard work, and effort they put forth. We wish them the very best moving forward.” Both Denmark and Turner originally signed with the club in 2011.
Jimmy Pop Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Is this just giving them a longer opportunity to sign elsewhere? Surely both could have at least competed for a job in TC. wbbfan 1
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 can't say im overly surprised, but still a lil all the same. I think ottawa might make a pitch for turner, not sure where denmark goes, calgary?
TrueBlue Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 Both should have a good opportunity to catch on somewhere.
Mike Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I'm really surprised both got the axe. I figured Turner for sure, little surprised it wasn't a "one or the other" situation. wpgallday1960 1
BBlink Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 This makes us worse for the moment. But maybe we can rely on our scouting dept this time?
Dirty30 Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 saw the Turner move coming but I am feeling a bit uneasy about letting Denmark go. Getting Dressler and Smith filled holes we already had at receiver. Now we have one again. I curious who they figure will be our starters.
Noeller Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Denny is an under-utilized superstar. If he ever had a quality, healthy QB throwing him the ball....he could go 1500 yds, 10+ TDs. Wanna-B-Fanboy, Logan007, JohnnyOnTheSpot and 5 others 8
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I honestly thought with Moore walking in FA and the acquisition of Dressler and Smith, if we were going to make a cut at reciever it would have been Adams at this point. At least I would have went that direction myself
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Lawless says its a salary cUp move, I didnt think we were in trouble with it. or is this making room for something big?
17to85 Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Denmark makes too much to be in the role he is in. Still need more talent at receiver I think. TBURGESS and Blue-urns 2
IC Khari Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I'm not concerned, in the meantime let's watch Arnold work out with two cats ...
Fred C Dobbs Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Always liked that guy. Good luck Bryant. Edited March 22, 2016 by Fred C Dobbs Al Bundy, Jaxon, Noeller and 1 other 4
Atomic Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 They will both sign somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised to see Turner in green and white. Denmark could come back to bite us. Never felt that we got to see his full potential here. voodoochylde and Bigblue204 2
bustamente Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Didn't think they would release Denmark, thought his production was ok considering our OC the last few years.
Dirty30 Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I was just beginning to feel comfortable with our receiving corps....I'm uncomfortable again
Atomic Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 If Veltung sticks around I believe that he would be a good fit for Denmark's position. However I am hoping that our receiver prospects are top notch this year and we actually sign a rookie who can play without making a total ass of himself. Blue-urns 1

Ducky Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Maybe they had some bonus money coming April 1st?
Captain Blue Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Surprised to see Denmark go. Would have liked to have seen him in LaPo's offense. I expect he will catch on somewhere and do well.
17to85 Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I like Denmark, he's got a lot of skill, trouble with him is that he needs to be a second fiddle to someone to really shine. When the spotlight is on him he isn't as good. That's a problem when you're paid like a star and the team went and signed some big ticket free agents. Once again we're relying on Kyle Walters to finally find a receiver through scouting in order to make the passing game dangerous. Let's hope this year works out better than the past couple.
kelownabomberfan Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Best of luck to both gentlemen, and thank you for all of the great memories. Blue-urns and bearpants 2

I thought they would give him another chance given MBs poor offensive schemes and Willy's injury. ' Edited March 23, 2016 by wpgallday1960 Missed words

DR. CFL Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 While other teams inside D line seem to continually get bigger Turner for whatever reason choose to drop weight before the start of this past season. Inside guys are big push guys who need to collapse the pocket. Turner failed to deliver and is paying the price. He is a quality guy...good luck to him.
