No. Matthews is a potential franchise Center and a small sample size tournament isn't going to change things.

Matthews goes first. It's obvious.

If you play/coach Philly they sure do. Gotta fit in to the culture. Just ask "Jake" Voracek and "Pete" Laviolette...

- It makes sense for the Jets to pick the new Finnish Flash, so why not have the original, Teemu Selanne, on stage to hand the jersey to Patrik Laine? He offers the skill and size that every team wants to add. An elite offensive player with the ability to score in multiple ways, Laine can do it with a panache, flair and confidence not often seen by players this young.

- Winnipeg has an additional first-round pick acquired from Chicago in the Andrew Ladd trade. The Jets do a terrific job of adding players of all types and positions that keep their prospect cupboard well stocked. German Rubtsov was unable to participate in the IIHF Under ’18 tourney because of doping scandal in Russia. Rubtsov is a tireless, skilled competitor. While he may have been out of sight at the tournament, nothing escapes the eyes of the Jets’ scouting staff.

Am I the only one who hasnt heard of German Rubtstov?

17 years old.  6'1. 174lbs.  Centre.

Datsyuk 2.0

German Rubtsov spent the entire season in the newly founded program of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. This program is similar to the NTDP of USA Hockey. He has been the second best scorer of that Russian U18 selection.

Rubtsov is a highly-intelligent two-way center and is probably one of the players with the highest Hockey IQ of the entire draft. He possesses a great vision and can really distribute the puck very well. He seems to always be aware of his line mates and is a great setup guy. Rubtsov makes smart decisions with the puck and barely turns the puck over. He is a calm puck carrier and uses his strong puck-handling skills to dance through the neutral zone with speed.

So he'd be the Zhamnov we need to go with our new Selanne. Now we just need a way to get Matthew Tkachuk to complete the set....

I thought it was Jesse Puljujarvi that was the next Selanne? Laine is Ovey is he not? Could be a problem for your master plan KB ... ;)

Rubstov gonna fall. Don't think the Jets take him as there has been very little indication that he's even interested in a nhl career. His interview will be key for sure. If he tells the Jets and other teams he will leave Russia for the NHL... he will go b4 the Jets pick. If not ... he's gonna fall big time.  Talented beyond belief but... Russian factor is high with Rubstov

Any Finn we get that is a star will be "the next Selanne" no matter how or what style he plays.
