FrostyWinnipeg Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Just come through the grapevine. Snooze you lose Jets. Guessing here but someone must have got good health news. Edited May 10, 2016 by FrostyWinnipeg
Noeller Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 That certainly changed things for Oilers and Jets...
The Unknown Poster Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 Well doesnt change things too much for the Jets. It doesnt surprise me if what I heard was the issue is correct. Didnt seem like something that desperately required him being here...But maybe revisit it when his contract is up...
Floyd Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 If Edm couldn't get a deal done last season then the price must have been ridiculous...
The Unknown Poster Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 Reports around here were Isles wanted Trouba. So just as well. All things being equal, I'd have traded Myers for Hamonic. But this isnt a net negative for the Jets. We're the same. And now the issue is removed.

Jimmy Pop Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 LOL at the people saying Jets and/or Oilers "missed the boat" on a trade. We can't say for sure either team made an offer, or what was proposed. Id chaulk it up to Hamonic perhaps rectifying a situation at home and/or the Isles winning a round this year. As TUP said, no big loss for the Jets. Now focus efforts on another vet D via trade or free agency.
IC Khari Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 He loves "being and Islander, more than anything" ... watch him get shipped out during the draft
Goalie Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Just mean the Jets and Isles couldn't reach a deal. Despite what some may say... it was WPG or NYI all along. Edmonton was never an option for Hamonic Edited May 10, 2016 by Goalie Ducky and The Unknown Poster 2
The Unknown Poster Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 The nature of the reason he wanted to be here could have changed. It was something that, having dealt with it while playing in New York all season, he might have realised it could take care of it without being here.
bigg jay Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 This morning Hamonic said the request was due to the health of an extremely close family member. That situation has since stabilized so he's able to rescind the trade request.

The way I heard it, that was part of the situation but there were other complications. None of which seemed to me to be something he couldnt deal with while playing in New York. But apparently he is a big family man and it was important for him to be here to help out. I wouldnt be surprised if the Jets have a convo with him in three years
Brandon Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 How much can a hockey player really help when he's on the road half of the season?
FrostyWinnipeg Posted May 10, 2016 Author Report Posted May 10, 2016 Closer to home. His family still lives in Steinbach unless someone is @ WPG hospital.
Goalie Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 St Malo actually and it's 40 minutes from here. That's pretty Damn close. Hamonic actually lives in wpg during the off season
iso_55 Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 I don't think we have the right to question why he should or shouldn't play here or how many games he plays on the road. Thankfully, things are better for his family now.
ALuCsRED Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Rescinding a trade request does not mean he stays with the NYI. It means he's not pushing openly for a trade. It doesn't mean Garth isn't shopping him.
