I don't think he is a first class jerk, truth be told. But I we will see what big NHL money does to him. And yeah, he's going to be a good one. I am so happy we ended up at #2 as we get the best player in the draft now, without being forced to take the second best just because of hype. Laine is just a better fit I think. Ducky Posted June 18, 2016 Author Report Posted June 18, 2016 that's like saying it isn't dark out yet... IC Khari and kelownabomberfan 2
Goalie Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 It's 95 percent likely He's a Jet. The other 5 would be I'd Toronto took him then oh no not Matthews. Jets can sit back and let Toronto take Matthews or Laine and then take whoever they don't

iso_55 Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 I remember that game.... "Crosby is better".... Even Alex Ovechkin laughed on the Caps bench. That just made it better. He took it like a good sport.

Toronto is in a position to second guess themselves, we are not. Unless of course, Chevy goes off course and picks the next Alexandre Daigle.

Pretty strong draft year.
iso_55 Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 Why do I get the nagging thought the Leafs pick Laine? Floyd 1

Ducky Posted June 19, 2016 Author Report Posted June 19, 2016 except the draft is before he becomes a free agent...
Goalie Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 (edited) Oh well. Then we get Matthews. A potential 1 2 Scheifs Matthews for 8 to 10 years would just be awful. If we were picking first 95 percent chance we take Matthews. I'd almost even say 100 percent chance. Edited June 19, 2016 by Goalie Ducky and bustamente 2
Ducky Posted June 19, 2016 Author Report Posted June 19, 2016 As good as Laine will be, the Jets would be far better off with Matthews. JCon and Goalie 2
Goalie Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 Agreed. Matthews is a center. A legit franchise Center. Laine is a nice consolation prize but if the jets had the first pick and took a winger over a franchise Center I'd be pissed JCon 1
Floyd Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 Laine v. Matthews = Don't care... without the lottery, we'd be debating Juolevi v Chychryn Goalie and kelownabomberfan 2

There is no way the Leafs pick anyone but Matthews. Shanahan would be tarred and feathered if he went with anyone else. bustamente 1
Rich Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 Even if they pick him, Matthews as a consolation prize isn't a bad thing. Goalie 1
Noeller Posted June 21, 2016 Report Posted June 21, 2016 I personally would rather have Matthews on the Jets, but that's just me. Either way, you're getting a really good player.
Mike Posted June 21, 2016 Report Posted June 21, 2016 Laine, Matthews, who cares Like Floyd said, at least we're not debating lower level guys. We get one of the elite. Goalie 1
kelownabomberfan Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 Quote Selanne, one of the most popular athletes to ever play in Winnipeg, believes the fit there will be good for Laine. “I think Winnipeg is the best landing place for him,” Selanne said. “They have a great history with Finnish players and a great appreciation for Finnish players, the fans. I’m so happy I started there, and I can only highly recommend it. It looks like he’s going there and he’s going to enjoy because of the passion people in Winnipeg have for hockey.” The Unknown Poster 1
Goalie Posted June 23, 2016 Report Posted June 23, 2016 FWIW Bobby mac from tsn thinks there is a very real chance the jets take Puljujarvi because of his better 200 foot game.
