Clearly a short term option for any team, and with the Riders season over, they're into testing mode for next season... Would love to see it but Durant is an achilles pop away from being done. If I were Barker I wouldn't do it.

I'm sure the Als and Riders have no issues giving up their QB if it helps them long term. A little different for Winnipeg and Edmonton, being in direct competition with the ARgos for a playoff spot.
Jpan85 Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 What if you traded Willy to Toronto then go and get Glenn from Montreal?

I'd sooner go with Davis than Glenn if we need to win a playoff game. Nichols isn't playing well enough to just hand him the job with no other reasonable options in wait. You can say, "yes, but" and cite various factors, but as John Madden said, "You are what your record says you are".
Zontar Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 Ricky Ray is a warrior of the first class for finishing the game with that injury. I salute his guts and strength . The Classic, johnzo, Rod Black and 6 others 9

Yikes...gotta wonder if the end is nigh for ol' Frito.... That's crappy. I love watching Ray play. Awesome QB.
Tracker Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 This may be the end of a great career. The injuries are piling up and the bounce-back just isn't there any more. The league is the poorer for the loss of such a warrior. Ripper, Rod Black, bb1 and 1 other 4
johnzo Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 If Jones moves on from Durant then the Mike Kelly-fication of the Riders will be complete. Getting rid of your established starter without a proven guy in the wings, that's a move that will change the Riders from a losing but semi-competitive team into a team that's unwatchably brutal. (I don't think the Riders are as far away as others may think ... they've got a QB and some Canadian talent, on paper they're way ahead of where the bombers were in 2014.)
johnzo Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) And yeah, it's a bummer to think that Ray might be at the end of the line. Him vs. Calvillo in the 2005 Grey Cup was the best CFL game I've ever seen live. Edited September 9, 2016 by johnzo Jesse 1
Tracker Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 If Jones dumps Durant, as stupid as that might be, it will signal to the Rider fans that he has officially descended into dementia.

Gotta think they'll be wanting Drew even more now, although I still can't see us trading him for anything short of a massive overpay. Ol' Reliable Kevin Glenn is probably available if Popp decides to go with Cato & Adams. I could see Glenn in an Argos uniform. I mean, why not?
WinnipegGordo Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 Durant provides stability at QB so it helps the Riders evaluate the talent around him. It would be smart to keep him. On that note, I hope Jones trades Durant. sweep the leg 1
do or die Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 Riders need Durant to give them some credibility, while the roster is put back together, for at least 2 years.....

Still not great but no need to make up fake numbers to prove a point.

M.O.A.B. Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 I'm a more interested in Cato than Glenn, to be honest. If Crompton is healthy I would trade for him. I believe he has 8 wins as a starter. But I have no problem with Glenn coming here as a backup for a lower $.

One of my most level-headed best friends is a Riderfan (we all have flaws we overlook in our friends) and he said, "If Jones dumps Durant, even to not extend him, I'm going to drive to Regina and poop on his lawn myself." I doubt he'd be the only one. And there's a whole fanbase who has easy access to manure and manurespreaders. Atomic 1
