FrostyWinnipeg Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 (edited) Lee Stempniak, two years, $2.5M AAV, to CAR. And I thought we got focked on the Tlusty trade. Boston traded 2nd and 4th for Stempy. Good for him. Deserved better then Chevy driving him to the levy and the levy was dry. Edited July 1, 2016 by FrostyWinnipeg
The Unknown Poster Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 Wouldn't surprise me to see Stafford traded. Stemp signs in Carolina. Goalie 1
Floyd Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Still not sure what Chevy didn't like about Stempniak... good value player, vet leader... Not sure what other 'mid-level' help is left for the Jets to be looking at...?
iHeart Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 grr I thought I was freed from that PSA for good
Floyd Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Colbourne to Colorado... nice value there. Hamhuis, Colbourne, Weise... all nice deals that I would have liked to see the Jets make. Strange that their own teams didn't keep them at those prices- especially Hamhuis
Rich Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Weircioch to Col 1 year 800k Justin Falk to Buffalo 1 year 650k
iHeart Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 (edited) So who is Quinton Howden? Edited July 1, 2016 by iHeart
The Unknown Poster Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 6'3. 183 drafted 25th overall in 2010 He was also selected to play in the 2011 and 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships for Team Canada.[2] Howden is considered to be a power forward known for his combination of speed, size and creativity.

FrostyWinnipeg Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 (edited) Quinton Howden, 24 6.02 189 lbs 2015/16 : 6g 5a 11pts in 58 games 650k in the NHL? Minor league contract suggest antlers. Edited July 1, 2016 by FrostyWinnipeg
Floyd Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Brian Strait... real surprised that its a one-way contract, left-side has not improved. Must have really soured on Chiarot
The Unknown Poster Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 is he much of an improvement on Stu? assume Chiarot gets waived to the Moose. Postma stil in the press box? Although still rumours of Jets/Ava working on major deal. Minor commitment so doesn't bother me even if it's nothing but a veteran back up in case of injury.
bustamente Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Minor league emergency call up that's about all with this signing
The Unknown Poster Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 i disagree with this perspective. Jets didn't make the playoffs last year. Seems to me they felt part of the issue was consistency. They are bringing in depth to cover for injuries and push other players. Make youth earn it BigBlueFanatic, Floyd and Goalie 3

Howden is young, Strait is not going to play if Chiarot has a great camp... Matthias is a PK that we need - I see it as Chevy saying maybe we should have kept Frolik... he plays at Burmi's expense imo. Only guys 'blocking' anyone are Stafford and Stuart and that's just for one more year
The Unknown Poster Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 interesting trend with these signing bonuses. It's one thing to do it prior to potential work stoppage season but every year? Guess it's considered a bonus to get most of your salary in a lump sum rather then a weekly pay cheque. Must be some advantage to it. Getting no trade clauses too. I'd think having minimal salary makes a player more traceable. Imagine trading for Ladd in December. You basically owe him barely half a million on the season since the Ilses paid all his salary up front. Interesting.

But they want more depth aside from other youth. Safety net. And making the Moose more competitive which helps development of young players there. IC Khari 1
