Ducky Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Hawerchuk thinks Scheif is one of the faster guys in the league right now. Talks about how the scouts were saying he wasn't a good enough skater. He thinks that sometimes you have to look beyond what they are at the moment and look at their attitude and nobody has a better attitude than Mark...good interview......speaks about p laying with Selanne in training camp and then learning that he has to go back to Finland for army duty. http://www.tsn.ca/radio/winnipeg-1290/hawerchuk-fans-expectations-high-for-heritage-classic-1.540012

He may have deep sixed his coaching career by doing what he did. The guy has a reputation of being a self centred, selfish, quick to anger guy who is difficult to work with. He is a Hall of Famer as a player but he's not playing anymore. He'd bring that coaching reputation with him wherever he goes. I tend to agree with you. I like professionals with conviction balanced with being flexible. He obviously wants the big chair. Any GM/president of hockey operations spots available for him? As an employee, there's a guy I wouldn't want to see Monday morning being introduced as the new boss.

True but they keep getting hired back so the odds are in his favour. Of the 4 new coaches so far this year 3 are re-treads - Carlyle, Boudreau & Boucher. In 2015 there were 8 hirings with 6 being retreads.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 Talk of Sakic stepping in as HC.
iso_55 Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 But no one with the ego & grating diva like personality as Roy. For what he's accomplished I don't know if he's worth it. Goalie 1

It would be even more cool if that indeed happens and they win the Lord Stanley Cup this year. I can hear the chants now, 'Patrick, Patrick, Patrick' :-) FrostyWinnipeg 1
Noeller Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Sakic has since stated publicly that he's looking outside the organization for the next coach. Talk of some AHL coaches maybe getting a call shortly... Goalie 1

Jimmy Pop Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Hey, maybe a return to MTL isn't out of the question for St.Patrick. Therrien has to be near the end of his leash there, no? FrostyWinnipeg 1

Therrien has to be near the end of his leash there, no? called Shaw support with a question and ended up talking to a guy in Montreal, who gave me a new remote and then talked about the Canadiens for around half an hour. Now you know why you wait on hold for hours. Anyway, the guy said that his buddy had once been to Roy's house and it was full of pictures and statues of himself. Gives you an idea of the ego on this guy. He also said that Roy is gunning for the Montreal job and if the Canadiens go in the tank he will be lobbying the GM hard to fire Therrien. Interesting perspective. Jimmy Pop 1
rebusrankin Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Montreal is clinging to the late 70s man.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 Roy won them their last 2 so he must be the answer
The Unknown Poster Posted August 19, 2016 Author Report Posted August 19, 2016 Random story. I'm in Vegas and last night I'm in a clothing store and the buddy is checking out NHL branded socks. I said see if they have Jets. A woman beside me says "what's wrong with the Canucks?" i replied "I don't have the time required to tell you everything wrong with the Canucks" she says "I work for the Canucks". I said oh sorry. She said "no no. I work for the Canucks. I know how bad they are" everyone laughed. FrostyWinnipeg, kelownabomberfan, MyDogHasScheifeles and 5 others 8
Rich Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Vesey signs with the Rangers. http://www.tsn.ca/rangers-agree-to-terms-with-vesey-1.551099
bustamente Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 At least it's not Toronto or Chicago Goalie 1
Goalie Posted August 20, 2016 Report Posted August 20, 2016 Think the Vesey hype wasn't really needed but I guess end of summer nothing else going on... sure. Now time to see if he was worth the hype. I'd consider 30 points since he's gonna be 24 pretty much a non bust season

Ducky Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 Wow, that makes the Scheifele deal look like a bargain.

Noeller Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 **** Monahan, **** Gaudreau...**** that whole team. You talk to the fans, and they'll tell you they're basically the new Hawks. Monahan/Gaudreau = Toews/Kane. Their D is better than Chicago's, and now they clearly have the better G......... *sigh*........I ******* hate Calgary sports fans. JCon 1
Ducky Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 Monahan is a very good player and probably worth what he got. He scored over 120 points the last two seasons, didn't he?........Scheif's deal is a bargain in comparison though.
