So to be clear they would never do this... except they might.

Still would be interesting to find out who 'leaked' the contract demands from last season

Correct.  Chevy would not stand up at a mic and say "here is our offer to Trouba...".  But things get leaked all the time.  Jets are a pretty tight ship.

I suspect Trouba's camp leaked the "demands" to sway public opinion towards a trade.

Trouba and his agent are fools if they think they will get anything close to 8. Maybe half of that now but hey his agent said it's not about the money which means it's about money

I'm in an 8 team pool for a boatload of beers

Here's how my team lines up:

F: McDavid, Kopitar, Wheeler, Marchand, Saad, Palmieri, Domi, Spezza, Ehlers, Jenner

D: Karlsson, Ekman-Larsson, Doughty, Ristolainen

G: Price, Luongo, Greiss

Tracks not only points, but +/-, powerplay points, shots and hits as well as the typical goalie categories (wins, shutouts, GAA, SV%)

Jenner, Palmieri seem like random selections in an 8 team pool, but with the hits/shots totals being valuable, they were top 50 ranked players last year.

Where did you take McDavid? He went 4th in my year to year draft. Risto seems like a reach in an 8 team league, but your other three D are really good. I'm guessing you went D pretty early.

I'm in a 10 team league. We count just about every conventional stat except hits. Love my forwards., but my defense and goaltending is pretty meh. I waited too long to fill out of the bottom of my D and goaltending and ended up with some questionable guys.

1. (2) Sidney Crosby (Pit - C)
2. (19) Jonathan Quick (LA - G)
3. (22) Evgeny Kuznetsov (Was - C)
4. (39) Nikita Kucherov (TB - RW)
5. (42) Wayne Simmonds (Phi - RW)
6. (59) John Klingberg (Dal - D)
7. (62) Brian Elliott (Cgy - G)
8. (79) Jakub Voracek (Phi - LW,RW)
9. (82) Milan Lucic (Edm - LW)
10. (99) Keith Yandle (Fla - D)
11. (102) Matt Duchene (Col - C)
12. (119) Kyle Okposo (Buf - RW)
13. (122) Steve Mason (Phi - G)
14. (139) Henrik Zetterberg (Det - C,LW)
15. (142) Dougie Hamilton (Cgy - D)
16. (159) Dion Phaneuf (Ott - D)
17. (162) Ryan Miller (Van - G)

I took McDavid fourth as well. Risto graded out well, again because of the volume of shots/hits he provides as a defender.

It gets a little hazy but I think my picks in order to start were McDavid, Karlsson, Price, Kopitar, Wheeler, OEL, Doughty, Marchand

McJesus went 8th overall in our draft to Dave and he was belligerent that anybody would let him go that late...

I was taking him anywhere, to be honest. Go big or go home. McDavid is easily my pick to win the Art Ross this year.

Maybe we can split off into a Poolies thread.  Might be fun to chat as the season progresses.  Was just talking to someone about first over-all.  He said McDavid went first in one of his pools.  Honestly, if I get first pick, I *probably* take McDavid but I really want to take Crosby.  If he was healthy I'd take him.  I think McDavid has the chance to just light it up on a bad Oilers team that will be offense first.

I play floor hockey every week with a bunch of old boys who've been doing fantasy drafts since the late 70s, and they tell tales of how Gretzky was broken into 2 draftable players: Gretzky Goals and Gretzky Assists. We talked this week about how McJesus isn't far from that....could happen again one day....

Yes he is. He's great and will lead the league in points for a long time, but he's not going to be winning it by margins like Gretzky did.

#8 is way too late. He would have been my second pick after Crosby. Our top three was Kane, Crosby, Benn.

I actually had a Crosby-Okposo for McDavid-McKinnon trade lined up before we found out about Crosby's concussion. Would have been great for me if we pulled the trigger one day earlier. Now Crosby is out and Okposo's centre might be out long term.

Oh yeah I misremembered.  Ours went McDavid - Kane - Crosby - Benn - Ovi

Right there, that's where your story completely falls apart.
